It’s not really capital, time, or people that prevent someone from opening an online business. It’s actually fear. After all, an online business is a gamble. You aren’t really sure if it’s going to work out for you or not. You can calculate or anticipate risks, yes, but no one still knows for sure what’s going to happen later. So unless you learn to tackle the fear, you’ll never be able to enjoy the rewards of having this kind of business, including more control over your time and profit, as well as the chance of creating an enterprise that requires a very small investment.
Change your mind-set first. Fear is just in the mind. Therefore, to get rid of it you have to deal with your present mind-set first. You have to change the way you think from negative to positive. You can start with affirmations that may talk about your strengths and skills and which in turn can increase your chances of succeeding in your chosen field online.
Get support from your loved ones. When you’re in an online business, you’ll probably use a portion of your house as your own office. Of course it may require waking up in the middle of the night to process orders or receive calls from your clients and business partners. Holidays may not come sooner than you expect. It is therefore highly essential that you have not just the support but the understanding of your loved ones. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for you to manage both your personal and professional life.
Don’t be afraid of setbacks. A lot of those who succeeded in online businesses didn’t really get it the first time. But they never surrendered. Instead they used their costly mistakes as lessons, to be put to heart so they don’t do them again. Always remember: Failure is temporary. Giving up may be permanent.
Study your strengths. Surely you’re good at something. You may be brilliant in coming up with products and services or perhaps marketing your business. Play with them and use them to your advantage. As for your weaknesses, you can always rely on someone who has them as strengths to compensate and complement you weaknesses.
Come up with great goals. Don’t just dream. Make them into goals that you can and want to achieve. Make it a point to review them regularly and match your business results to them. See if you are on your way to achieving them. By doing so, you spend less time entertaining your fears.
